Weekend thoughts..

By Studio 21

The Saltburn Studio is almost 1 month old! And it’s been an amazing rollercoaster ride to get here, I keep telling myself that I need to sit down and reflect on the past month and everything that’s happened.  But for now… I need a couple of days off.

I’m heading down to the Suffolk/Norfolk border this weekend to spend some time with my parents, sister and nephews.  There will be afternoon tea, sunday roasts, muddy dog walks and nephew cuddles.

I’ve had the Audible app on my phone for a while now and I’m really enjoying listening to audio books when I’m travelling to and from the Yarm Studio.  I’ve got a few lined up for the weekend drive, here’s what I’m listening to this month.

  1.  ‘Can’t Hurt Me: Master Your Mind’ By David Goggins.  I’ve just finished this one.  It’s a bit hardcore for me but pretty addictive to listen to, Goggins was a Navy Seal who defied all odds.  Quite inspirational! (but he’s mad!)
  2. ‘Happy Money’ By Elizabeth Dunn.  I’ve only just downloaded this one, it talks about the science of smarter spending, in a nutshell ‘buy experiences, not things’.  I’m looking forward to getting going with it!
  3. ‘The Silent Guides’ by Prof Steve Peters.  This is the follow up to the the Chimp Paradox, it’s focussed a lot of young people but you can easily relate it to adults.
  4. ‘Ikigai’ The Japanese Secret to a Long Life.  By Hector Garcia. I love this one so much I also bought the hardback version.  You can’t live without a purpose, and even if you’re looking for a purpose in life, that’s a purpose, really thought provoking.

The other thing I’m looking forward to tonight is Becky’s wonderfully chilled Yin Yoga class at the Saltburn Studio, this will be the first time I’ve had chance to actually attend a class at the new studio.  You imagine that when you have a studio you’ll be able to go to all of the classes you like! haha, I wish.  After class a few of us teachers are getting a vegan indian takeaway from ‘Hidden Jewel Vegan Curries’ I can’t wait!!  It’s Ellen’s last day on Monday which I’m sad about, she’s been absolutely amazing for the studio and she’s one of the loveliest person you’ll ever meet.

That’s all for now, wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Vicky 🙂
